Hi, I can perform the complete site/DB migration for you. (It may sound strange but I actually LOVE setting up/configuring servers, migrating data and performing similar tasks, so this will be a pleasure for me.)
While I have not had hands-on experience with Google Cloud, I have used Microsoft Azure, DigitalOcean and Linode cloud services to perform similar tasks in the past. As a matter of fact, I am setting up a complete web hosting control panel over Azure cloud for another client even as I type this.
Based on my (2nd hand) study of RackSpace via forums etc., I believe their backend/infrastructure is fairly strong and reliable. If your site still has availability issues there, I guess it must be attracting a LOT of traffic.
Be that as it may, this is what I initially propose to do:
- Create a virtual machine/server at Google Cloud to run Apache/ngignx and host your outward-facing site
- Create a separate virtual instance to host and run MySQL
I guess such a setup/configuraton would lend more stability and scalability to your site, with the flexibility to easily adjust resource allocation to any of the two components (web server and/or database) as required.
For the rest, rSync+MySqlDump should do the trick for transferring the site contents + database over to Google Cloud.
Naturally, I'll finalize the actual setup/configuration only after discussing everything with you and getting your go-ahead.
Please PM me to discuss this further.
Best regards.
