I need to limit the number of characters that can be added in a description form of a frontend event submission page (community events plugin) in WordPress. At the moment it only works in text mode but not using the WYSIWYG editor. It should work the same way in the editor showing the numbers down to 0 and then disallows any further text.
I used a plugin "Word Count and Limit" which does exactly this but it only works in the backend. I also don't like the popup message it is using.
There is already plenty of info about similar issues with pretty detailed code so it should be a quick job.
It can be done as a plugin but as a snippet for adding to the [url removed, login to view] would be sufficient already.

I can have this built using some jQuery within a few hours that will limit the characters entered into the frontend submission section. Please message so we can discuss further, Daniel Larson
