This project is for adding ajax updating using javascript to a specific page on our site.
Due to our use of jquery tools 1.2.5 this must work with jQuery v1.4.2 as well as the most current version of jquery.
To view page to be modified goto:
login with user WORK000001 password 123456
then click on mybids page.
## Deliverables
Mybids page currently may have from 1 to n items on the page. There may be dozens of items that the individual bidder has bid on. Your design must take into account having a variable number of line items on the page.
We will modify the page to add whatever line item element class/id references you require to accomplish this project. We will also be willing to modify the flow as specified below if you have a better method of accomplishing the same tasks.
At it's peak, we anticipate there will be dozens of these requests every second. please take this into account when forming your proposal.
the of your ajax request will need to include all the element(s) aHighBid_ + lot number and value of the current high bid. You can see an example of this on the mybids page. From that field, i can tell the lot number, and the current high bid on the user's screen. We will write the server side portion of this project and generate the reply.
The elements on each line which require updating are:
current high bid - aHighbid_ + lot number
bidder's high bid - aMyHighbid_ + lot number
mimumum bid amount - aBidAmount_ + lot number
hidden value min bid amount - aMin_ + lot number
high bidder - aHighBidder_+ lot number
time remaining - aTimeLeft_ + lot number
Number of Bids - aNumBids_ + lot number
I addition, "the time on the server was" element (or portion of the element) also needs to be refreshed, as well as additional text at the same place on the page specifying "the last ime this page data was updated was n minutes\seconds ago. This page will update again in n minutes/seconds
We are including the current server date/time on the initial page load in the hidden div serverCurrentDate.
The page should auto submit this ajax request, have a timeout built into the request and the interval between requests should vary in a manner similar to :
the initial interval should be based on the lowest amount of time remaining on any line item.
if this closing date is > 1 day from now -->update every 10min
if this closing date is > 1 hour from now -->update every 5min
if this closing date is > 10 min from now -->update every 2min
in other cases (<10 min)-->update every 1min
if (after an update) there are changes in data rows -->update every 1 min if not recycle normal update interval.
During development, we will install your browser page code and program the server side code on
our site for testing.
Successful bidder will also be used for follow-up on this same project as we integrate it onto
other portions of the website. Please include your hourly rate for continuing assistance in
this proposal.
Additional information based on questions asked..
The ajax request would be sent to: [login to view URL]
the request data must include all the lot numbers on the page, i.e. 3 & 5 in this case.
We will return all these data elements with their new values in the response even if the request contains only the lot numbers. If the data hasn't changed (i.e. no new bids), we will NOT return anything for that lot and it's elements, and they should NOT be refreshed.
Our server can also determine the initial interval setting when the page first loads. we only need to know where/how you want that indicated.
Our server dynamically creates the initial page with all necessary elements. after the initial load, the ajaxupdater function should take over updating all the fields through periodic ajax requests.
