Reformatting XML document files to make them WIKI compliant Some documents have been created using an XML editor (X-Metal) which are then converted to an HTML format by a command line Java program. This project is to write some changes to the XSLT files and other processes in order to create HTML files that can be imported into a ‘WIKI’ web publishing site. The solution needs to be general and can apply to any XML file in which we have prepared documentation. An understanding of Java, Ant, XML, XSLT and HTML is desirable. You need to have j2sdk1.4.2_04 and Ant installed. If you are not familiar with either of these packages, this project is not for you. There are two requirements: 1 Preparation of a technical specification on how you would do the project that demonstrates a clear understanding of what is involved. This will include understanding ‘mediawiki’ format for which a DTD is available and which can be understood by reference to the site: [login to view URL]:How_to_edit_a_page After completing this requirement to our satisfaction (this will involve you sending a specification of 1 or two pages which we will then check ??" this may involve a number of iterations). You would then proceed to the second requirement: 2 Writing the programs (java, xlst, etc.) to execute the transformations from the XML files to the HTML format acceptable to ‘wiki’. This would be done by creating a [login to view URL] file that, when executed from a command prompt, converts XML files. The attached zip file contains some example XML files. Our acceptable test will be to: • The generated HTML format is wiki compliant? • The generated files be loaded in to a wiki document? We will specify a web site into which you can test loading the HTML file. This will be done after the first requirement has been met. Detailed specs and sample files are are in RAC015_02.ZIP.
