Hi there,
We have the design document for a large-ish scale game developed for the PC. You will be responsible, using Untiy3D or appropriate game design software (your choice), for completing a working, polished game world that fills the following criteria (A design document will be provided for you, giving you the structure to work to):
First-person Voxel-based game
NPC characters that can be commanded to build, craft, fight, loiter
Combat with weapons, skills and magic
Very basic crafting system whereby you drop item from your inventory into a craft menu, and a result is instantly produced
Gathering system whereby you can destroy blocks to add them to your inventory, then place them elsewhere later on. This will be used for town building etc.
Very basic physics whereby blocks tumble if there is nothing supporting them
The basic premise of the game is to command your followers to build a town/castle, and defend that castle against invading armies (no more than around 20-30 enemies will close in at any one time)
You can also go pro-active and recruit followers to follow you into battle.
There are plans for more features in the future. Multiplayer is one of them, both local and online.
An added note, all 3D models, textures animations and Musical effects will be provided for you. User interface graphics and what have you, however, are not. You will have to implement these as you go along, in keeping with the game's art style. You'll also be responsible for ensuring that the game is kept very close to the original design.
Now then, we're not looking to start this project for another 30-60 days, and is based on us being able to get funding so get your bids in for considerations, because you're nothing to lose by bidding, and a potential large project if we get it!
A quick note on programming: I'm no programmer but I'm aware that for voxel-based games, you need to be able to code in a custom system within the game engine to handle 'voxel containers'. This helps to reduce lag in game by obscuring blocks that cannot be seen, therefore they are not rendered until the block is exposed. That's about my limit on knowledge of programming. I also have little knowledge of just how much work will be going into this from your side, but don't price yourself out of the job!
I run European website design firm with years of design experience personally developing over 300+ websites. I can also provide a list of references from past customers if you'd like. I'm not the cheapest you'll find, but I think you'll find my pricing affordable, and I work very quickly. Remember, you always get what you pay for in the design industry. Thank you for your time, and I hope we can do business together.
Dear Employer
We can program your strategy game using the Unity 3D scripting engine. More info is included in the message which you will find inboxed!
Thanks
This is an INCREDIBLY difficult project but it is possible nonetheless and we CAN do this but there is a reason voxels aren't used in most modern games, they are inefficient for anything else other than terrain, sure there are projects like Unlimited Detail that promise and promise and never deliver but other than that there isn't really a reason to use voxels. PM me we can work this out.
