Hi,
we have our own component working on Magento 1.8+, which is used to calculate the prices for made to measure products. If a customer orders a product bigger than the smallest we can do, the additional charge is added to the base price of the item so the customer pays more.
Unfortunately on some occasions the component does not work and the customer pays only a small price, which usually costs much more. It's very hard to find the cause of this problem therefore we are thinking about creating a module which would be able to prevent the customers from paying the base price of those items.
The easiest way would be to create a component which after detecting that the product from certain categories with the basic price would not let the customer to pass the checkout stage. Unfortunately we need to keep the made to measure products in a few different categories with different base prices so we would need to have a module which could assign different minimal price for each of those categories.
