Active Directory And Domain Controller DNS Issues

Judging from your description, the most likely problem seems to be your hyper-V firewall blocking the port which your DNS server uses. You can check to see if this is the case if you turn off your firewalls on your virtualized server and physical host and check if there are still DNS issues. Most likely you don't want your firewall to be turned off, so i can configure it so that the DNS port remains open but other unnecessary ports remain closed. If that doesn't resolve the issue, then it could be that your DNS port is used by another service, interfering with your domain naming resolution, That would require a more detailed analysis of your servers and the roles/features/applications you've configured for it. Additionally, if you cannot connect to your DNS server at all, it could be that you set up your Hyper-V Virtual network to internat or external, or that you set up your perferred DNS server IPv4 address incorrectly. I had a similar problem with a new customer's Server 2003 DC. Only had ten users but it was a mess, and only because someone had made a manual DNS entry for the server and then changed the server's ip address. Took a while to find it, but it was an easy fix and everything settled down. I will need Team Viewer or Remote Desktop access to the three servers with the domain admin credentials, and a domain member client computer on the same subnet. I will confirm that your dhcp server is serving the correct dns address, and that all the dns entries associated with the DC's agree. Then I will flushdns on all the computers, and test a group policy change with gpupdate. Plz see www.johnmcaloney.com.
