I will jump right to the subject. I had the same problem few days ago, I made a backup from a mounted partition so I could not run mysql to do a SQL Dump so I saved the files just the way you have them. Thing is it is not enough to have the .opt, .frm, .MYD, .MYI format files. Once you'll place them into the correct mysql directory you won't be able to access them, it will say table doesn't exist.
