Background
Public Learning Media, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, applies scientific findings and technological solutions to create systemic improvement in elementary and middle school education.
To achieve our objective, we provide educators with free, high-quality, web-based instructional and exploration tools, accompanied by technological and pedagogical models, they can use to help students develop clearer, stronger, quicker understanding of challenging concepts. We are particularly focused on providing tools that teach elementary and middle school math, science and information literacy.
This summer, we are focusing on improving the overall quality of the services and tools we provide. See details below. **

## Deliverables
Detailed Design Descriptions
Glean Website. The Glean website, [login to view URL], presents the product line (Glean tools) of Public Learning Media.
We're seeking creative proposals to liven up the homepage through better design. Designs should not be heavily interactive, but instead, rely on simple graphics to tell the story. Goals:
* Explain the organization
* Explain the product line (Glean)
* Showcase our three categories of teaching tools, e.g., math, information literacy, science
* We're seeking a better way to present information about each category, e.g., [login to view URL] How should our category listings appear? For each tool, we need to show:
* Tool title
* Screenshot of each tool
* Brief description
* Grade-level relevance
* Skill relevance
* Standard relevance
* Website URL or link
* media and/or sharing devices
* Public Learning Media tool website(s).
Around the "tool" of each website, we have a common template. This template can be seen on the following sites:
1. [login to view URL]
2. [login to view URL]
3. [login to view URL]
We need help to clean up this template in a way that preserves its minimal (lots of white space) aspect, preserves colors, but clarifies and "neatens" the existing design. The elements that need to be included are:
* Glean logo and header bar
* We need for the designer to improve upon our current "wire" logo header space. Our plan is to either
* Use a single wire/divider space for all types of tools
* Develop a specific wire/divider identity for each product line, e.g., math, science and information literacy.
* Glean product line (math, science, information literacy)
* Tool name
* PLML logo
* Site navigation (top-level navigation only
* Additional elements we need on the page:
* Watch us (join our mailing list)
* Help us (join our mailing list and builder's group)
* Amazon us (support us by buying through Amazon)
* Donate (support us by donating directly)
* Bug us (report a bug with one of our tools)
* RSS feed (one line only) that links to the builder's group latest discussion
* We also have content pages, e.g., [login to view URL] For these pages, we're looking for an improved layout design. This design should include:
* Sections
* Headings
* Body content
* One-column layout
* Two-column layout (video left or right)
* Links and link colors
* Ordered and unordered list samples
