We need a simple application for measuring reaction time and response accuracy. The iPad will be on the table at arm's length from the user. They will be instructed to reach out and tap a target as soon as it appears on the screen. We want to measure the time between the target appearing and the user tapping the screen, and the displacement error between where the target appeared and where the user tapped the screen. The user will be wearing prism glasses so we expect them to miss the target on the first few trials, but to gradually improve over following trials. The rate at which they improve is our primary interest.
We would like to be able to control:
How big the target is (it just needs to be a green circle, boring but functional)
Whether it always appears in the same place, or can appear randomly in a range of locations on the screen (not too close to the edges)
Whether it remains visible throughout the trial, or whether it disappears a specified short time after it appears (say half a second), so people have to tap where they remember it appearing
The time delay between trials, and the number of trials per block
We would also like to be able to restart a block, if required
We need to record:
The movement time for each trial
The displacement error for each trial
We need to be able to retrieve these data in a table or tab-delimited format for use with other software
We would also like to record these data about each user:
Age
Gender
Hand being used for the task
