I have a class project that needs to design a network layout for a building.
1a. Provide a cable plan (labeled pictorial OR a clearly outlined narrative in a word document referring to the bldg/office layout dwg)
1b. Provide a layout showing all printers, scanners, and WAPs. You don't have to show the workstations because it is assumed they are in the offices and cubicles (on the second floor).
2. Provide a Bill-of-Materials (BoM) for all the parts needed to support the network including switch(es), router(s), WAP(s), cables (prefab or bulk), model #, part #, plug-in modules, retail price, extended price (you can just give counts for the printers, scanners, and workstations--no pricing or part #s necessary). Total up the network and cable line items just use $0.00 for the workstations, printers, and scanners (unless you want to see what a real-world setup costs).
3. Provide a spreadsheet with the IP addressing plan for all workstations, printers, scanners, router interfaces, and wireless clients.
4. Provide a written description of the network you are designing (5 or fewer pages of narrative). You'll want to have a section describing the network gear, the workstations, printers, scanners including end-of-sale (EOS), end-of-support, and end-of-life (EOL) dates for the networking equipment.
