Compress and consolidate >100.000 sound files, and provide API for playing them.

I have a dictionary of approx. 500.000 strings that are mapped 1:1 to WAV files. I want to use this dictionary in an iPhone application, but the size of the WAV files is far to big. My preferred solution is: 1. Compress the WAV files with the Speex algorithm ([login to view URL]) 2. Consolidate the Speex files in (possibly further compressed) blocks, to reduce the cost of file overhead multiplied by half a million files. The delivery must consist of a working XCode project, that provides a working example I can generalize from if needed. Bonus points for providing a cross-platform solution that is usable on Linux and Windows, but not required. ## Deliverables Solution must be comparable to existing solution in my Windows version of the program: Space requirements for the 500.000 files is a maximum of 200MB, and must be able to start playing a file with sub-second latency form request to first sample played.
