We have a webshop. And many of our products are listed in a price comparisson site.
We need a script/application that can run through all products from our site, and find a matching product in a text file we get from Price Comparison. The text file hold 230.000 products and we publish approx 3000 products to the comparison site.
I thought it can be made in vb script, vb.net or in C++. Please advise and do your best.
So our 3000 product should be found and matched in text file. The product ID from text file should be returned. Else the script will check whether our products are too cheap - the text file show top 10 of each [login to view URL] a product is sold too cheap the script will correct the price to be just under the 2nd best price, but always not cheaper than our purchase price. Also check if there are only 1 shop selling these products - then make price with x% in profit.
There may be other considerations when making the script - it may be diffycult to explain - when you get the project, you will get the files needed.
It should be a desktop based application with connection to db
Scraping is not necessary as the text file provide from price comparison site hold all prices with top 10 on all products in site.

this require a desktop(C#) application. this require a website parsing. so desktop app would be better. i have experience in website parsing(data grabbing)
The project require some scrapping and searching work depends on either data is available in database or on pages.
