I would like a web service for users to pass in data to an existing c# Application which I have written. I am unfamiliar with Web Services, RPC, etc. I would like to explore what is involved with creating a 'system' (Web Service I think) to allow users to pass XML. Once I have XML (possibly JSON also), as a 'FileStream' (or equivalent) in c#, I can de-serialise and process. The result from my processing of the file will return a 'result'. At the present, the 'result' is not defined as I do not know what is possible - but assume it will be either a simple 'string' or 'XML' (maybe JSON). So, this requirment is to: 1. create a Web Service and a simple way to understand how to deploy and send XML / JSON information to it. 2. return a 'result' 3. understand how to deploy this on a customer's server. 4. some 'debug' / 'logging' to monitor the status (running OK, last requests received, etc.) Please feel free to contact me to discuss what details you require.

I have 7 years experience on both developer, team leader, architecture design and project manager positions. I have a senior team can work with .NET, NoSql, PHP, Mobile (ios and android). In normal, you should use WebService to communicate with another system (machine), not end user cause It doesn't provide a GUI. For your case, I think you should create a simple web page which allow user to choose data file (json, xml, etc) then upload it and process your business. I can work with you to find a best solution for your requirement, implement and deploy it.
