Assist writing a query to delete duplicate data and then add indices

I have a table with 202 million rows, 5 million of which are duplicates. I have been able to create an identity field (bigint, seed 1, increment 1) on the table. However, I have been unable to write a query which will delete the 5 million duplicates but not increase the tempdb to a size which fills up the disk drive.

Assistance will be most appreciated as my boss has been on my case to do this for some time!
