debug broken add to cart functionality in zen cart

on the site [login to view URL] when you add a product to cart and view cart, suggested products come up at the bottom. if you add a suggested product to cart, first it it works ok usually, but if you keep adding more products, then some OTHER product, not the one you are trying to add, gets added instead. This needs to be debugged. One correlation I noticed is if you try to add product with ID 99, it adds product with ID 9. If you try to add product with ID 101, it adds product with ID 1. But it does not happen EVERY time, so maybe it is session related. The products are added through some custom php code that the previous developer has coded so it will probably need to be debugged. zen cart version 1.3.6.
