Custom Wordpress Template Edit (quick and easy)

Hi, recently bought a template for a friends site that he wanted help with. the site template is the following - [login to view URL];WT.seg_1=category_thumb&WT.z_author=premitheme However he wants it to look slightly different, i have mocked up on paint how he wants it to look roughly (excuse the stretched logo haha) : [login to view URL] I contacted the developer of the the theme and he said he cannot change it because it is too busy but told me to try on here as it would only take someone who knows what there doing an hour or so. He even gave what files to edit and other such info. So i just need someone to implement those changes. I have setup the site successfully through wordpress so all it needs is someone to do the coding edits which i am clueless on!
