Every night around 1 AM I get the following message from [login to view URL] about my server: ************************************************************ YOU HAVE REACHED YOUR DAILY SMTP RELAY LIMIT ************************************************************ You have reached your current SMTP relay limit of 2000 per day on the following hosting account: Nicole ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your hosting server will be unable to send email until the daily SMTP relay limit is reset. The daily SMTP relay limit is reset on all accounts at midnight MST. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you need to send more than 2000 emails per day from your hosting server, you can request an increase through Customer Support. However, increase requests must be justified and must not violate our anti-spam policy. _______________________________ I am not sending these emails. I have shut off auto reply to spam email on all my sites on this server. So it isn't a bounce message. Here are the details on my server: Operating System: Windows Server 2003 - Web Edition Processor: Intel Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHz RAM: 2 GB Total Disk Space: 120 GB RAID: None Bandwidth Quota: 3000 GB Quota Used: 7 GB Firewall: None Control Panel Type: Plesk _____________________________________ My guess is that a spammer is somehow compromising my server and sending out 2000 messages every night. I need someone to figure out where the hole is on my server or one of my websites and patch it so that spammers can't hijack my server to send out spam messages. I still need to send emails so just shutting down email is not an option. I need to find the security breach and close it. ______________________________________
