a simple gift site using amazon

My Project is easy. In a nutshell, I want created a gift suggestion website. Something akin to “[[login to view URL]][1]?? would be perfect. The goal of this website is to generate steady revenue through advertising items. I’m posting this simple project here because I don’t know anything about web programming and I don’t currently have time to learn (I tried myself with a dummies book but it didn’t quite work out). Naturally I’d need a database infrastructure and necessary means to link the database to a pretty webpage. I have a sample Excel file that suggests a database layout and a webpage layout (index [login to view URL]). It shows my attempt to produce a category tree in the database. The things I want on the webpage are simple. A simple categorization of products where any given product can reside under multiple categories, and a simple search function by keyword. I need some sort of mechanism that imports/updates selective data regularly from the AWS datafeeds into our databases, probably according by ASIN or ISBN. One of the main product providers for our website will be [login to view URL], so knowledge and usage of Amazon Web Services is a must. (I do have an AWS access key). My web host supports php and perl and mysql, so the pages should probably be in php. The site should be functional on a [login to view URL] swamp hosting account. No purchasing will be done through this site, so we don't need secure systems for credit card processing. A membership service that would allow users to log in and save product pages would be nice. I can provide details, but that’s basically it. I also require one more thing. I need some instructions on how to update the database and website so I can add more products. Logo design and such are not necessary. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment (which for us, is a swamp hosting package at [[login to view URL]][2]). 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). I believe the minimum requirements for such a website includes: 1. an index page that looks similar to the webpage blueprint in the index [login to view URL] uploaded. We will provide/develop the logo and pictures for categories. Perhaps the picture locations should be a column in the database, identifying the categories? I’m supposing the navigation bars on the left and top should be CSS/text based pop out bars with perhaps 2-3 layers. Subcategories should be perhaps called from the database (thus a database infrastructure that supports identifying sub categories). 2. A category page, perhaps referred by clicking on the index’s navigation bar. This page should show a list of subcategories, an image for the subcategory, and a description for the subcategory. 3. A product list page, that shows the end items in the subcategory, such as a list of DVD titles called from the product database. Also a navigation panel in the left to further refine the lists by for example price would be nice. 4. A product details page. Most of the items (let say 80%) will be from [login to view URL], so it’d be nice if product descriptions, titles, perhaps user comments, could be pulled from a database using the Amazon web services. We also would like an obvious positioned comment for the items from our site. A list of vendors and price for each vendor, along with the shipping policy should be displayed. My idea was to enter vendor IDs for each product’s database, such as Vendor1 = 1, which corresponds to lets say, vendor 1, Amazon’s database price and shipping policy, and a link to the vendor’s product page when clicked on. 5. Perhaps a blog page, which we can allow a few titles of different entries appear somewhere on the index page in an organized fashion. 6. Supposedly a top items page/category. Amazon Web Services supposed has a function/means of displaying best selling products. Perhaps in the database that defines category, have a column that identifies scripts to display a top items (sold or recommended code), that could be either imported from the amazon datafeed database or entered manually. So supposedly there could be a page for each category that loads the scripts/data 7. Perhaps a webpage interface that allows us (administrator) to add products by productID, vendor, selecting a database and comments to a certain category, and perhaps do the same to categories. 8. A search mechanism for products? I don’t know how that works and was going to manually write keywords for each product. You are not required to add any products or descriptions (although at least some products should be added to show functionality of the AWS data importing and database infrastructure). We mainly need the means to display and enter data. I’d strongly prefer to see a demo of the website and database infrastructure just to make sure I will understand how to add data/products to the databases and anything else required. ## Platform In all 6.0+ versions of Internet Explorer and 2.0+ versions of Firefox, probably using php and mysql, and working on our webhoste, [login to view URL]
