I am interested in building a community portal for a state website that will bring individuals together in one location for information. I don't need fancy components but just a couple of things to get started .
FIRST PART OF WEBSITE:
The main structure in the website will be a business directory system that will allow for business name, address, phone, fax, zip code, city and state, logo image, mapquest link, website url, email, business description, a rating system (0 to 5), a comments section, a coupons area. Businesses should be able to be listed under multiple categories.
I don't think that I need this up front but it would be nice to have businesses join online and upload their own information.
When visitors come to the website they need to be able to search for businesses under business name, city, zip code, category, etc. I have been looking at [login to view URL] and
SECOND PART OF WEBSITE:
I need to have a place where I can submit news and other people can submit news if they are registered with the site. I would like to be able to approve news submissions. I don't like the basic setup of PHPNUKE because it's too square and ugly. I don't mind using that setup so long as you know how to change css and templates to make it look less square. News submission is important because I just interviewed a congressman and would like a way to post the information in a fairly easy format aside from designing a page every five minutes. ([[login to view URL]][1]) sample of news and how the site is not so square.)
THIRD PART OF WEBSITE:
In order for people to use the website, they must first login or register. I really need to collect data and so I want people to login and register. (a sample main page that requires a login is at [[login to view URL]][2])
