Hi,
I am storing articles in a mySQL table. The table has a "created" field to show when the article was written. The created field is of datatype date (format YYYY-MM-DD).
I want to retrieve all articles and store them under their respective created dates in month year format, i.e.
January 2000
article 1
article 2
etc.
February 2000
article 3
article 4
etc.
I have managed to do this but only numerically, i.e.
01-2000
article 1
article 2
etc.
02-2000
article 3
article 4
etc.
I want to convert the month digit to its full text equivalent, i.e. "01" to "January" and "02" to February.
I came close on several occasions, I think, using date() and strtotime() etc. but ultimately, no luck.
I attach a file of where I am at the moment. Please note, I'm only interested in the month and year, NOT the day.
The change is purely aesthetic, e.g. it's not used in the SQL statement, but I would be interested to learn how to do it.
Thanks.
