This bid has several parts to it. First, we'll be needing and using the gIFT filesharing daemon ([url removed, login to view]) to run a modified version of KCEasy ([url removed, login to view]), a windows front end for gIFT. KCEasy source code is here: [url removed, login to view] KCEasy currently supports the Gnutella network and OpenFT network. There is also a plugin for the FastTrack network that we'll need, for a total of three networks. Info on the FastTrack network plugin is located at [url removed, login to view] **Continued in "deliverables" section**
1) There is a small program that we need to run inside the modified KCEasy app called Safe-Share. Safe-Share is also open source, and allows KCEasy to run as a download-only application on the end users computer. They are thusly not allowed to upload to other users on the three networks. A copy of the safe-share source code is attached to this bid. The KCEasy software should, after it is installed, pull up the members section of our main website in its main window, although there will be no address bar for rest-of-the-internet browsability. We also need the ability for visitors to our sites to be able to http search for files on these networks. I believe this can be accomplished using httpgift ([url removed, login to view]). We *cannot* allow users to actually download files from the web, however - they merely need to be able to search the networks from our sites in order to determine if the files they want to download are available. Lastly, we'd like to have the KCEasy application described above in two formats: Format #1: Fully functional application used by members. Format #2: Trial version visitors can download from our site (after giving their name/email address) before signing up as members. This trial version will allow them to download 25 free files. When the 26th download is attempted, a window will should pop up telling them their trial is over, and they should "click here" to purchase a fully functional copy. "Clicking here" will take them to our order page. They'll need to enter their name and email address at the beginning of the order process, so the correct affiliate gets credit for their purchase. My impression of this is that once this work is completed once, it should be relatively easy to duplicate and recompile for numerous different websites. This is something we're going to want to do, as we'll probably be experimenting with 25 free trial files, 20, 15, etc. Similarly, we'll have the expired trial downloads point to different order pages on different websites. We're open to suggestions on this - don't really know how easy it'll be to change small aspects of these programs for use in varying situations. The sourceforge documentation, at least, calls the gIFT daemon "extremely portable." We'll need support available for 30-60 days after this project is completed to work out any bugs that may or may not pop up - we've never done anything quite like this, so...we just don't know what may happen. The completed software should be branded under the name "The Download Center" for now. 2) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
3) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
Programs will run on Windows platform. Web-based search aspect (httpgift) is platform independent, should be usable by all current browsers.
