Hi, I am working as Lead Pricing Analyst in a Fortune 500 MNC. I have worked on pricing models, income statements, value-pricing projects etc. Some of the projects which I have done include: 1) Time series analysis to determine relationship and prediction of retail petrol vs from wholsale petrol prices 2) Multi-regression for product harvesting strategy using dummy variables wherever applicable. I'm a statistician currently in a graduate applied stats program working on my PhD. I've been doing data analysis for 20 years. I charge $50/hour for work like this only to expand my resume. I charge a lot more commercially. I could give you a 'not to exceed' price after I see the data and a better specification of what you need. If part of the project is to find data sources then I'm not interested. I don't have time to do that. It's time consuming \with no guarantee you can find anything useful. If you know all of the data sources and have access to them then I'll do this. I don't know what software I'll use yet but my thoughts are to do it in SAS or Minitab or maybe R. I'd need to see the type of data that is available, what shape it's in, how much we have and exactly what you want out of it. Your description sounds like a straightforward regression analysis to determine the probability of success given a set of inputs. An NDA is no problem.

Hi I have over 5 years f experience with machine learning and classification problems. This seem like binary classification algorithm (would someone get into an academic program or not). I would start with collecting data, analyzing it by fitting different regression models and calculating certain statistical measures. Later on I could decide which classifiers I could try using (like SVM, rp forest, boosting or neural networks). We could also try some pgm learning and classifiers (naive bayes or other bayesian networks) since it may produce good dependencies between the data which we cant catch. I have three years of working experience as Research Associate in Quant Team of a renowned investment bank of Europe. In that organisation, I extensively worked on designing new portfolios and testing other trading models. These include Modeling of FTSE 100 index value, based on Call and Put option open Interest and Strike Price, Backtesting of Option Spike and Put-Call based trading strategy and Performance tracking of Portfolio of an Investment Bank. I propose the following to do on the project floated by you. 1. Filters such as Kalman Filter can be experimented to predict the data. 2. Least Square- Support Vector Machines and SVM can be tested. Further certain algorithms can tested to optimize the kernel parameters so that we can get most probable parameters. 3. Artificial Neural Networks can also be tested to get good results. 4.
