One of our existing clients website with about 30 static pages wants to achieve accessibility compliancy. So, essentially making the website accessible to people who are hearing and visually impaired for the most part. I’m thinking section 508 compliancy may be the best target. Although its for USA websites and we’re in Canada but it may be a good standard to adhere too. I am open to suggestions as how to bets proceed.
Let me know the kind of experience you have in doing this and your suggestions. Obviously there are a lot of tools. Just so you know, the pages in the existing website are all structured the same:
Javascript drop down menu horizontally at the top. Banner below (sliced into 4 images). Below banner is the html text. So I think once you make one page compliant, making the other will be quite easy and just a question of duplicating teh content in teh compliant page.
