I am writing a children's book and I require an illustration at the start of each chapter. The book is about the journey of a young girl and her dog through 18th Century russia, so the illustrations are mostly landscapes.
For example a dog sitting in the bow of a horse drawn boat sailing down the river Dniper, or the dog sitting with the girl in a ruined city surrounded by soldiers. I expect the illustrations to be printed in black and white, so line drawings or pen and ink may be best. Because the book is published iteratively (1st draft, 2nd draft etc) I am wanting to pay for basic outline drawings first and then more elaborate ones later.
There are 15 chapter illustrations and 5 bonus illustrations that are different. The project would start by only doing a few as a milestone. I will supply a word document with photographs, examples and lots of description for each illustration.
I don't have tones of money so the iterative process is an important factor in selecting someone. We do all of them quickly and cheaply for a draft, then go back and do more complex and detailed ones when the advance is received :-)
