This assignment requires an amount of computer work and written comments. You will examine data for 192 people. 1. Numerical Summary Tables (Descriptive Statistics) : - Contingency Table: Construct one contingency table and a bar chart that shows how many employees of each Position for males and females. - Prepare a summary table that shows average current salary and standard deviation for males and females. - Prepare a summary table that shows average current salary and standard deviation for employees according to their Position. 2. Graphical Summary (Descriptive) and relationships (Inferential) : - Create two new columns of data : The difference between starting salary and current salary; The number of years working for this company. - Use this to create a histogram (or Graphical Summary from basic Stat menu) showing the distribution of the salary increases per year. Comment upon what you see. - Provide side by side boxplots for the differences in salaries, split by position. Again, comment on what you see. - Obtain a scatterplot of these two variables; Make some appropriate comments based upon what is shown on the resulting scatterplot. - Obtain the same plot as above but this time you need to somehow identify the employee positions. In other words obtain a scatterplot of differences between starting and current salary versus years employed at the company grouped according to position within the company. 3. Conclusion : Write a brief concluding paragraph regarding current salaries of employees for this company in the light of gender differences, position and fairness, based upon what you have noticed from the above analyses.
