Description
Search engines are computer programs which allow you to retrieve information quickly and effectively. The growing amount of data and information in our lives is huge and requires effective search algorithms that respond to information retrieval in an acceptable time. In this project, you will support users to retrieve historical event information from a list of events. Each event has a date and a short description.
Project Requirements
In this project, your task is to
1. Identify the appropriate data structures to represent the list of events.
2. Support different operation on events such as:
a. Building the event list from a text file. The following text shows a simple list of events as provided in the sample file.
b. Adding events
c. Removing events
d. Finding events that happened on a given date
e. Find a specific event
f. Show the list of events that happened between two dates
3. Create a testing program to fill the data structures and execute all the search operations mentioned above.
Submission requirements
You have to submit the following items in order to get the project final grade.
1. C++ code for
a. ADT(s)
b. Data Structure(s)
c. Testing program
2. Project report with the following sections
a. Introduction
b. Problem description
c. Description of the data structures identified for the problem (ADT and DS)
d. Performance analysis of the storage and the performance of the basic functions
e. Design of the testing program
f. Results of the testing
g. Conclusion
3. Oral Presentation
a. PPT slides
