We have a set of requirements relating to the calculation of moments and correlations of empirical distributions. The empirical distributions are derived from price data: price data is transformed into normalised prices and an empirical distribution and empirical density is calculated. Once the density is known, the moments are calculated. Someone has developed this in C++ and SQL, but he had to abandon the project for parental duties. Given your background, I thought you might be interested.
We use mercurial for version control, gcc as the compiler, MySQL as the database as well as mysql++ as the wrapper. The latest version of the C++ program with the SQL embedded is available, as well as some underlying data.
