3D cell culture is a fast growing part of cell culture technology. Many pharmaceutical, biotechnology, research institutes and hospitals use cell culture for diagnostics, clinical or product development. In traditional cell culture (2D) falls surfaces are used as cell culture plates. These plates are quite common and the market is controlled by big companies such sigma or Thermo Fischer. However, recent trends are showing some shifts from 2D to 3D. In 3D cell culture technologies instead of culturing cells on flats surface, non-adhering surface or scaffolds are used.
