I have previously worked in the financial industry, founded a cryptocurrency with a market depth of 250,000$ USD and a Bitcoin casino which got over 150,000$ USD in investments. For your payment gateway to gain traction extremely sophisticated cloud design patterns would have to be applied to yield a byzantine tolerant system. Furthermore the gateway would have to be elastic and be able to expand and contract upon use (for instance if you were to be hit with black friday and experience many requests you would not be able to commission servers fast enough and would crash, furthermore you would not be able to DE-commission the servers afterwards and be stuck with huge server expenses). Overall you need to be very well funded to pull anything of this sort off.
