subject: The misrepresentation of the Puerto Rican identity in West Side Story. Verantwoording: The Puerto Rican characters in the musical West Side Story all seem to be caricatures because the actors portraying the male characters are all in ‘brown’ face and seem to be and act stereotypical. Problem: The portrayal of a cultural identity is misrepresented in a white dominated country, culture and show business.
